The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) is hosting the Australian and New Zealand Ombudsman Association’s (ANZOA) “Meeting of the Minds” conference at its Melbourne office on 28-29 July. 

ANZOA is the peak body for Ombudsmen in Australia and New Zealand. 

The conference brings together over a dozen ombudsmen from various industries across Australia and New Zealand. The focus of discussion will be the role of ombudsmen in a changing world, and how to improve effectiveness as offices, individuals and leaders.  

AFCA Deputy Chief Ombudsman, Dr June Smith is opening the first session on Thursday afternoon. Executive General Manager - Operational Delivery, Diana Ennis and Head of Jurisdiction, Michelle Kumarich are also presenting on the operational and implementation challenges that have arisen during and after AFCA’s Independent Review. 

Ombudsmen in attendance include: the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, the Taxation Ombudsman, state Energy and Water Ombudsmen, state Public Transport Ombudsmen, and the National Health Practitioner Ombudsman, among others.
