AFCA attends community townhalls for people affected by recent storms and floods in NSW and Queensland

AFCA decision makers and case managers attended a series of community forums in flood-affected areas in New South Wales, including Murwillumbah, Mullumbimby, Ballina, Lismore, and North Brisbane. The forums were arranged by the Insurance Council of Australia to help local policyholders connect with their insurers, and to help explain the insurance claims process.
New funding model comes into effect on 1 July 2022

AFCA’s new funding model will come into effect on 1 July 2022. The new fee structure, including the introduction of five free complaints, will apply to complaints closed from 1 July 2022 (excluding legacy complaints).

AFCA finalises funding model after industry consultation

The vast majority of financial firms will pay the same or less to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority under a new, user-pays funding model that will be implemented from July 1.

AFCA releases response to Independent Review

AFCA has released new information on its response to the Independent Review and how it has already commenced or progressed work on 9 of the 14 recommendations. This includes the new AFCA funding model, modernising technology to enhance timeliness, efficiency, and transparency, and completing a significant component of its fairness jurisdiction project.
