AFCA has appointed an Executive General Manager, Regulatory, Policy and Research, to enhance its ability to deliver independent, fair and effective dispute resolution and to improve practice and minimise disputes across the financial services sector.

Sarah Edmondson has joined AFCA from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) to take up the role.

Sarah led Behavioural Research and Policy in ASIC’s Strategy group, a team that was involved in the establishment and oversight of AFCA, as well as work on internal dispute resolution standards, data reporting and remediation. The team also brought behavioural insights to ASIC’s regulatory work.

Sarah has more than 25 years of regulatory experience. In addition to ASIC, she has worked in environment protection and superannuation policy and at the Banking Industry Ombudsman. She also has experience in competition regulation.
